We're building a capability for the global Utility Markets to efficiently manage large volumes of data from yesterday and tomorrow's meters, integrating with other systems and providing value-added services for existing and future customers. To progress this goal we will be building out an R&D engineering team based across our Melbourne and Auckland offices. We are seeking a Graduate Software Engineer to join an existing scrum team. Our teams work closely with a Product Owner, Product Manager, and Engineering Lead to ensure we have a product mindset that delivers value continuously and sustainably. You will be part of one such team which also has an established mentorship/buddy program that helps empower new joiners to grow and sharpen their skills.


Gentrack is a 500 person, growing business, listed in the public markets of New Zealand and Australia. The main people centres are in London, Auckland, Melbourne and Pune.


In this role you can expect to:

  • Be part of and actively contribute to a self-organising, cross-functional team
  • Learn and develop an understanding of engineering principles, next-generation Cloud-native Platforms like AWS and languages such as C#, Typescript or Golang.
  • Liaise with customers to understand & analyse their requirements and develop appropriate solutions
  • Work with a variety of stakeholders including development teams, Product Owners and Managers, customers and Engineering Leads
  • Take time for personal training and development

What you need to be successful:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A good understanding of all aspects of the software development life cycle
  • Some exposure to software testing (e.g. unit tests, integration tests, acceptance tests)
  • Flexibility to shift focus to where the need is greatest
  • Be open to accepting constructive feedback and have the resilience to keep learning and developing your software engineering practice
